with the truth, i'm reminded when hillary clinton says what difference does it make because of a video or terrorist attack. now, they say, the program got us the intel that led to bin laden, it makes all the difference. that the terms of credit like jose rodriguez that undertook the program but also you have to keep the nation safe going forward. when they say things like we could have gotten the intel some other way, we could have gotten it without it. we could have liberated europe without the d-day landing. it's not accurate. >> sean: and liberal media repeats it. i'm concerned about f-16s and tanks going to morsi who has purged the egyptian military who we thought we may be able to counted on and put his puppets in place there. how dangerous is that that the senate last week had an opportunity to stop giving f-16s to this 9/11 truther, this guy that things the israelis of descendants of apes and pigs, we will give them weapons that could be used against israel? >> you are exactly right. there were some republican seniors snrs that would have stopped the sale. anybody out there that

menendez. but this doctor, he gave his house to bill and hillary clinton. huge donations to the democratic party. lots of influence within that party. a lot of money to menendez himself. how do you think this is going to come down? >> let me tell you what we already do know the three major broadcast networks cbs, nbc, on flag ship broadcast friday to monday evening newscast have not covered this story at all. evening niewfs nbc, cbs weekday edition haven't covered it at all. so when conservatives say sure, if this were -- if menendez were a conservative republican and not a liberal democrat you would show a lot more interest, i think they are probably on to something. here is where it gets tricky, bill. if i were in charge of one of the networks, and i got a tip that menendez was involved with adult prostitutes in the dominican republic where prostitution is legal, i would not cover the story. no interest whatsoever. unless a politician is spouting from the bible and telling us how much family values means to him, it's not of no interest to me. here is where it gets even trickier. if i got

clinton did with school uniforms. and tell college students the jobs might be tough. what about the gun issue? should the republicans stick with the nra or tell wayne lapierre to get a real job? how could a party built other the decades on the people who left the democrats abandon those issues that attracted the rule south and the west people and the miners and the ranchers and the gun owners. and the people furious about immigration. how do you ban those people and keep a party? tonight an expert, a passionate believer that politics can get better. my colleague joe scarborough. here's the question. how do you keep this huge tent the republican party has built in the last 30 or 40 years with people from the south, the west, the miners, the ranchers, the religious right, all those people that have decided the republican party is their natural home and yet you have people in the fringe costing you your image. >> well, you've got to stand up to people on the fringe. you know, when parties go extreme they get roundly defeated. it happened to democrats in 1984. it happened to the republican

texas, a democrat appointeded to an immigration reform commission by bill clinton, and the clinton administration briefly flirted with supporting her proposals, which would have reduced illegal immigration and toughened enforcement. in the last decade, the face of restrictionism has been joe arpaio and that, i think, has produced much less favorable political conditions for what essentially in many respects could -- there are some liberal ends to a stronger immigration position. what you're seeing, a tighter labor market at the lower end of the income scale would benefit an american working class that's disproportionately black and lati latino. >> the data has been murky and increasingly less murky that the wage effects of our current immigration regime don't hit, for instance, high school dropouts or low skilled workers like in the labor hierarchy that are native born, as hard as previously thought. there are some dissentures in that, and an economist at harvard is one of them. was there any point of interaction that you're not actually hurting native born workers? i can see a pol

and bill clinton 42 were getting along while president bush was still in office. you remember how nixon helped out everyone, from clinton to ford. this would be a great opportunity for president obama at some point, maybe even on tuesday, to say, a lot of the policies i was critical of as a senator, now that i'm in that seat, i can support and my respect goes out to george bush that. would go a long way to getting something done in washington. am i dreaming? >> yeah. this guy has never actually taken the olive branch and used it the way it should be. he wields it like a club and i don't think we'll have that moment. you're right, brian. this would be a time to say, you know what? i inherited these policies from bush and i'm actually glad. that's not going to happen. >> steve: he's adopted so many of george w. bush's policies, ironically, things he ran against and now he supports them. listen, let's talk a little bit about gun control. there was a rally recently and a very famous comedian was there and chris rock said this. >> president of the united states is, you know, our boss. he's a

we lost 18 friends we cut and run. i see no reason to believe that that clinton tactic has changed any more than attacks we are using now. that promotes recruitment. the way to defeat terrorism is to stop recruiting. make it not appealing. so, if these countries know that america is going to stick with them and an administration that is going to stand behind them instead of cutting and running that makes us more effective. what doesn't bode well for us, clayton, is when you have this former secretary of state yelling at the american congress and the american people indignant saying what difference does it make? well, -- >> we will have to leave it there. we would love to leave it there and tell you more broadly about this. more "fox & friends." just $49.9! that's up to 76 percent below online providers and only at officemax stores! we've dided to we're all having such a great year in the gulf, put aside our rivalry.
